Oakbrook Terrace– As gasoline prices and government fuel-economy standards continue to rise, one alternative fuel that has gotten plenty of attention is clean diesel, and Bosch, as a supplier, has done plenty of work with the fuel. Despite that, Bosch is part of the U.S. Advanced Coalition For Diesel Cars, which, despite its name, advocates for “technology-neutral” solutions, not just diesel technology.

Bosch presented to MAMA on Oct. 18, talking about the growth of clean diesel as well as the factors driving that growth. There was also discussion of the difficulties in setting up an electric-car recharging infrastructure along with the coalition’s goals.

According to Bosch, clean diesel had been on the radar of most automakers in 2008, but rising fuel costs, economic crisis, and uncertainty about government regulations meant the cancellation of many clean-diesel programs.

BARRINGTON (October 5, 2011) – The Midwest Automotive Media Association’s annual Fall Rally took place Wednesday, October 5 at the Marriott Hotel in Barrington, Ill.

Around 50 automotive journalists showed up to drive approximately 70 new vehicles, with an eclectic mix ranging from the Ram Power Wagon to the Subaru Impreza to the Nissan Leaf to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG to the Ford Mustang Boss 302 to the Chevrolet Sonic subcompact.

Chevrolet sponsored breakfast, with a brief presentation on the all-new Sonic, which replaces the Aveo as the brand’s subcompact offering. Mercedes-Benz Financial sponsored lunch, with a presentation detailing the groups’ new partnership with American Express.
